| SUNDAYRUNNERS will be releasing their self-titled debut album on March 22nd.. Their melodic pop collides with a sonic mix to produce an original rock-pop sound. For those of you who are not familiar with SUNDAYRUNNERS; you are in for a surprise treat. The Chicago-based group consists of: Randy Diderrich (vocals, guitar), Mason Brown (guitar, backing vocals), Rick Diderrich (bass), Dan Reinholt (drums), and Aaron Grant (keyboards, backing vocals). The band was created by lead vocalist/guitarist Randy Diderrich, formerly of Midwestern alternative bands, Front of Truck and Mas Optica. Randy's songs have appeared on Party of Five, and VH1's Record Breakers, among others. In listening to the first track, you are treated to warm vocals, strong rhythms, and some awesome harmonies. "Elected," "Everlasting Sun," and "Half My Height," all show Randy's influence from the Beatles. The later song is a good dance song. This track also includes, "Memories Left At Sea," which has both strong drums and vocals that are complimented with melodic harmonies and set the tone for the following tracks. This song will be airing on the Fox TV show, The O.C., on Feb 17th. "1993," and "Floor Toms Fall Away," have beautiful melodies and harmonies that flow flawlessly to the next song , "Finally." One of my favorite songs of this CD is "Finally." It has a very original sound. The superb vocals, strong beat, and edgy guitars send this number over the top. I predict this number to be a huge hit. Diderrich's influence from The Radioheads and Pixies shine through on the numbers, "Into Your Head," and "Lip Biter." SUNDAYRUNNERS is a thoroughly engaging outfit, thanks to soaring guitar rhythms, hooky songs, and Randy Diderrich's delivery. This debut CD is sure to be a runaway hit. If you are searching for a sound that is different from your modern mainstream rock, then you will find it in this album. Be sure and listen to the hidden bonus track. |
